About the Company
Lauren Hale Dance (LHD) has been in existence since 2004, when company founder, Lauren Hale Biniaris, graduated from the Master of Fine Arts Program in Dance at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. Since then, the Company has performed in venues and festivals throughout New York City and the Hudson Valley and has held residencies at colleges, high schools, and dance companies along the East Coast.
LHD thrives off of the creative contributions of all its members and places great importance on both improvisation and collaboration.  It is a company that values the process of making and presenting dance as a means of personal growth, and it is constantly exploring new and different ways to innovate, challenge, and redefine the creative process.  The company celebrates human experience as the fertile ground from which art grows, and it relies on its members' life experiences and creative resources to enrich the choreographic process as well as live performance.

She has co-produced two evening length concerts with ThisThat Dance Collective, and in April of 2009, she self-produced an evening of dance with her company at the Philipstown Depot Theatre in Garrison, New York.  Most recently, she is engaged in producing an ongoing dance series at the Philipstown Depot Theatre called Depot Dances, whose mission is to bring high quality dance made by emerging and established choreographers to the Hudson Valley area.  Lauren has been the recipient of DanceNow’s Silo Project residency as well as The Field’s Emerging Artist Residency, and she has been a Sponsored Artist both through The Field and through Dance Theater Workshop. Lauren has participated numerous times in the Bessie Choreography Workshop for NYU graduates under the tutelage of Don Redlick, and she has also studied pedagogy and improvisation with Pilobolus founder, Jonathan Wolken.  As a performer, Lauren has danced with the Aimee Rials Dance Project, Noel MacDuffie Performance, The Second Avenue Dance Company, Brown University’s Dance Extension, and New Works/World Traditions.
